Austin, Texas – Bevo, the nearly 2,000-pound mascot for the Texas Longhorns—who has once again been barred from the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta—is apparently looking for a loop hole to exploit to gain access to the arena on New Years day.

“Is it unprecedented? Yes. Is it impossible? We don’t believe so,” said Thomas Stepp, Director of Communications for football via landline telephone on Tuesday.

“They say there’s not enough room for a mascot of his size…well, we’re going to make them say there’s not enough room for a press member of his size,” Stepp continued.

Stepp pointed out that Uga was welcome with open arms at the SEC Championship game in early December, and Sparky the Sun Devil has gotten no push-back either.

“It’s unfortunate that it’s come to this, but this is where we are: desperate times call for desperate measures,” Stepp continued. “What are we supposed to think at this stage except that the Mercedes-Benz Stadium leadership are staunchly anti-bovine,” Stepp concluded.

Atlanta, Georgia – Citing space constraints, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey announced that Bevo would not be attending the 2024 SEC Championship between the Texas Longhorns and Georgia Bulldogs.

“He’s a big animal, and if the 2019 Sugar Bowl is any indication, he doesn’t like bulldogs much,” Sankey said during media availability on Thursday.

“It’s kind of horseshit—scratch that, BULLSHIT,” said one of Bevo’s Silver Spurs caretakers on the condition of anonymity. “Just because Georgia’s mascot is a wimpy little house dog doesn’t mean he should be allowed in while Bevo isn’t,” the Silver Spur concluded. “If that’s not favoritism, I don’t know what is.”

Where will Bevo watch the game, then? It’s still up in the air, but his handlers say they’ll figure out a way.

“Not sure what Atlanta’s sports watching scene is like, but if worst comes to worst, we’ll hook up a big TV and put it outside of his stall,” our source concluded.
