Minneapolis, Minnesota – After a thrilling 24-10 win over Virginia Tech in the Duke’s May Bowl, it was all smiles for head football coach P.J. Fleck and the Minnesota Golden Gophers, except for one small problem: the team is unsure if their new hardware requires refrigeration.

“Oddly, the trophy didn’t come with any kind of instructions, or even a ‘Use by’ date, so we’re a little fuzzy on what to do next,” said Minnesota’s Athletic Director Mark Coyle via RingCentral early on Tuesday morning.

“The other thing is, most mayos specify to refrigerate after opening, which, as anyone who watched the video of coach Fleck getting doused knows, that baby is open…” Coyle continued.

Where will the University of Minnesota football team display the trophy, then? Coyle says it depends on the instructions they receive from Duke’s.

“We have an open line of communication with the bowl sponsor going, we’re confident this is a problem that can be solved. Right now, it’s near zero here, so this isn’t even really an issue we need to address right now. We’ve got the trophy in a little equipment shed outside of the football facility. But come Spring, when things start to thaw out, we want to be prepared to proudly display our trophy with confidence,” Coyle concluded.
