Athletic administrators for Washington State University and Oregon State University announced plans to expand their competitive association during the 2025 football season via Zoom earlier today.
“Two games next year just isn’t enough. If we’re going to keep the Pac 12 dream alive, we have to put the members of this conference first…every Saturday, all season long,” said Wazzu Athletic Director Anne McCoy.
“Agreed,” added Oregon State Athletic Director Scott Barnes, “and what’s exciting about this gameplan is that we’re talking a minimum of 12 contests. Presumably, these two teams will meet again in the conference championship game, and then we’ll see what happens in the post season.”
When asked what this means for the future of the conference, both athletic directors started speaking at the same time. Then, after a brief exchange of awkward silences punctuated by a few “You go, oh…no, you go”s, McCoy took control of responding.
“The Pac 12 name originally referenced the number of members in this league. Now, it’s the number of times the members of this conference play, and that is an exciting future.”
