Athens, Georgia – Georgia Bulldogs reserve cornerback Jake Pope issued a heartfelt apology after practice on Friday after his joyous post-game demeanor ruffled the feathers of the Georgia faithful.
“Okay, as we all know, there was an unfortunate incident after Ole Miss last weekend, and we just want to put that to bed,” said Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart. “Jake, you wanna come up here and say something to these people?” he said, motioning for Pope to take the podium.
“I just want to tell all of the Georgia fans and other players who were impacted by my actions just how sorry I am. I’m better than what you saw from me last Saturday,” said a tearful Pope.
“I know an apology can’t make up for the damage my jubilation caused, but I want everyone in Dawg Nation to know that I’m going to learn and grow from this,” Pope concluded.
“Good, thank you Jake,” said Smart, retaking the podium. “Okay, next order of business, our weekly DUI report…”
