Ann Arbor, Michigan – The Michigan State Spartans football team dealt its bitter rivals the Michigan Wolverines a tough blow on Saturday night in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Several, actually.
“The Spartans had higher quality strikes, and were just better technically prepared. Whatever competitiveness advantage the Wolverines had during the football game, Michigan State made up for at the after-party,” said Frank Garza, a retired Michigan boxing expert who was tasked with judging the fight.
“I saw good things from Michigan, too, they had some clean, hard punches. Effective slipping, good parrying of some of Michigan State’s flurries. They hung in there, this was NOT a knockout. Which means, what? You gotta go to the scorecard. I had MSU 10-9, 9-10, 10-9. So it was close, but two of the three rounds went to Sparty.”
Michigan State is currently appealing to the Big Ten Conference to have the boxing victory added to their conference W-L record in football. Updates will be added as they become available.
