Columbus, Ohio – PFF grades for the Ohio State-Michigan game were revealed late on Wednesday, and showed that Ohio State linebacker Jack Sawyer played at an elite level postgame in defense of the Buckeyes midfield logo, receiving a PFF grade of 92.3.
“He moved really well after the game ended,” said Pro Football Focus’ Head of Analytics Anthony Treash. “He played a super solid game, but his postgame effort was off the charts. It’s the kind of performance that moves you up draft boards, quite honestly.”
When asked what specifically stood out about his defense of the Ohio State field, Treash noted a couple of different standout moments.
“His flag-grabbing was quick and accurate, he really got in there and nabbed that thing. He also moved with speed and tenacity. At one point, even grabbed an Ohio State staffer and kind of slung him around. One of the best postgame motors we’ve seen in a long time,” Treash continued.
“At the end of the day, if the Buckeyes had applied that kind of intensity to actually winning the football game, there wouldn’t have even been a need for the post-game field defense,” Treat concluded. “So, like I said, I’m impressed.”
